Of all the Specializations that an Artificer can pursue, that of the Armorer is the most defensive-minded. With a focus on becoming a bastion of magical metal, Armorers modify a set of armor to function as a second skin. By focusing their signature magic through this empowered armor, they can unleash potent attacks and generate formidable arcane defenses. Armorers view their armor as a part of their body, and as they hone their abilities, the inventor and their armor become one.
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with smith's tools. If you are already proficient with smith's tools, you instead gain proficiency with another set of artisan's tools of your choice.
At 3rd level, you gain the following spells. They do not count against your spells prepared, and count as Artificer spells for you. You only gain the spells when you have spell slots for them. The spells are listed by their spell level.
1st Level: Shield, Thunderwave
2nd Level: Mirror Image, Shatter
3rd Level: Lightning Bolt, Thunder Step
4th Level: Fire Shield, Storm Sphere
5th Level: Destructive Wave, Wall of Force
Starting at 3rd level, your research has led to the crafting of a set of armor infused with your signature arcane magic.
Creating the Armor. During a long rest, you can spend 1 hour using smith's tools to create a set of Arcane Armor. You can only have one set of Arcane Armor at a time, and only you can use it. Crafting another set causes the previous set to lose its power. Your Arcane Armor has an AC of 16.
Wearing the Armor. Your Arcane Armor expands to cover your entire body, replacing any missing limbs and body parts. You can don or doff your Arcane Armor as an action, and you can deploy or retract the helmet with a bonus action. Your Arcane Armor also cannot be removed against your will.
Defensive Ward. While wearing your Arcane Armor, you can use your bonus action to give yourself temporary hit points equal to your Intelligence Modifier (minimum of 1). These temporary hit points disappear if your doff your armor.
Thunder Gauntlets. The Arcane Armor includes powerful Thunder Gauntlets which cover your hands and can be used as a spellcasting focus for your Artificer spells. Your Thunder Gauntlets are simple weapons that deal 1d8 thunder damage on hit, and you can use your Strength or Intelligence for their attack and damage rolls. You can also hold and interact with objects and tools as normal with your Thunder Gauntlets.
At 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action while wearing your Arcane Armor. Also, when you use your action to cast a spell, you can make a Thunder Gauntlet attack as a bonus action.
Also at 5th level, your Arcane Armor now counts as multiple individual items for the purposes of your Infusions: chest piece, boots, helmet, and its Thunder Gauntlets (two individual weapons or gauntlets). Each of these items can bear one Infusion.
You also learn special infusions that can only be applied to your Arcane Armor, which are detailed at the end of this page.
At 10th level, you have greatly improved your Arcane Armor's synergy with your signature artifice. Your total number of Infusions Known increases by 2, but both of these additional Infusions must be applied to pieces of your Arcane Armor.
You gain another one of these bonus Infusions at 15th level
At 15th level, you have become a master of Armorer artifice. While wearing your Arcane Armor your walking speed increases by 10 feet, and you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
Finally, your Thunder Gauntlets deal 2d8 damage on hit.
Item: helmet
When you take this infusion, pick one of the following effects while wearing your armor. You can pick this option multiple times, selecting a different effect each time.
You gain darkvision out to a range of 60 feet. If you already have darkvision, you extend the range by 60 feet.
You are immune to the blinded condition
Once per turn, you can give yourself advantage on an attack roll.
Item: chest
Your Arcane Armor becomes collapsible, turning into a small case. When you doff your armor, it transforms into a normal metal briefcase, and weighs only 5 pounds.
Item: gauntlets
Your thunder gauntlet can perform a ranged attack instead of a melee attack when you make an attack with it. You make the attack and damage roll like normal, but you have a range of 60 feet.
Item: gauntlets
You gain proficiency with martial weapons and shields while wearing your Arcane Armor. If you want to use a two handed weapon, you must infuse both your gauntlets with this infusion.
Item: chest piece
Your Arcane Armor has an AC of 18 instead of 16.
Item: boots
Your base walking speed increases by 10 feet while wearing your Arcane Armor
Item: boots
As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 feet. You can use this a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier before you must finish a long rest.
